Pink Saturday again ~ this time our sweet hostess Beverly of How Sweet the Sound is asking us to share a favorite holiday decoration. I have TONS, but it is easy to pick my very favorite.
Me when I was 5 back in 1960 playing with my favorite Santa.....I still have him today...pictured below.....
Daughter and my daddy made the little wooden Rudolph one night while DH and I were at a party and my parents were babysitting her. She even painted it all by herself! I always display them together as they both bring back such very special memories, one from my childhood, the other from my daughter's.
The entire "tablescape" my mother designed for that wonderful blonde wood coffee table was all made of styrofoam ~ not a very good choice for an inquisitive little 5 yr. old with itchy hands ~ and sadly, dear chubby Santa is the only surviving piece. The little sleigh and reindeer were made of very VERY thin sheets of styrofoam. Dear Mother never scolded me when I would accidentally break yet ANOTHER reindeer neck. She would just bring out the glue, then she tried broken bits of toothpicks, then straight pins, and lastly large amounts of red ribbon to camoflauge the sordid business. Eventually they were tossed.
Oh, how I would dearly love to find duplicates to go with my little treasured Santa. Please let me know if you ever spy any!
Please visit Beverly and all the other Pink Saturday participants here today. I'd love for you to visit previous posts of mine so that I may share our home with you this holiday season! I'll be making the rounds to visit you all soon!
Christmas Hugs,

Stepahnie ~ Such treasures! I can see why they are your favorites and they come with such special stories! Happy Pink Saturday.
Oh Stephanie...
I so love this post. I love your picture of you playing with the reindeer and the little Santa. At least you still have him. He looks to be in such great shape. And his color is really good too. I will keep my eyes peeled for reindeer. I haven't really seen any reindeer this year at the GW, but you never know from week to week.
You know I think I glued quite a few things back together and covered up the gluing with ribbon also. You think it is a Moma thing?
Thanks for sharing sweetie. I love it. Stop by and let me share my pink post with you.
Country hugs and much love, Sherry

This is a lovely story. You were an adorable little girl. You should keep this in a frame nearby, because this is how I see your heart now.
How kind that your mother never scolded you when you broke that precious ornament. I love that sleigh. Isn't that a wonderful memory of your daughter and your father making that reindeer together.

Lovely story. The photo of you is so cute, what a great smile. It is funny how we get so attached to flimsy things like styrofoam toys when we are small - what makes something magic to a child? I love the fact that your Dad is helping your daughter create new Christmas traditions - she will treasure that wooden reindeer like you treasure that Santa. What a wonderful Christmas heritage.
Happy PInk Saturday!
I love your picture of you as a child, you were so cute! And your story is just as wonderful! Ah, sweet childhood memories are the best! Happy Pink Saturday! Suzie
Oh sweet I love the little Santa and what a sweet story.

Hi Stephanie, I've been here for almost an hour waiting for pictures to download---I dislike dial up.You were a cutie pie for sure. Love all your beautiful things and especially your story and I just may be able to help you with the reindeer---no promises, but can't remember if I have 2 reindeers or angels, but I have a box full of old styrofoam things my mom had. When I go to Crowley, where my craft things are stored, I will check it out and I will be happy to send them to you. Keep your fingers crossed. Hugs, Pat
Hi Stephanie..my mom still has the blond wood bedroom set! Loved the picture of that sweet little girl..you would never know she was breaking off reindeer heads! lol
Loved your post..thank you for sharing sweetie..xo Tami
A great post. your cute little santa aged well. He looks new. and aren't you a cutie back then? Blessings!
Gwen
Hello Stephanie, I adore the photo of you playing with your Santa. How special to have that photo. Your story about the reindeer etc. is so cute. I am imagining your mom trying to repair it. I don't think glue woks well on styrofoam. At least she tried.
Thank you for sharing your sweet story. I loved it.
Hugs, Jeanne
We don't need elaborate decorations or a big tree or numerous gifts under a tree. All any of us needs is to carry the spirit of Christmas in our hearts and to share it all year long with everyone we meet.
Thank you so much for sharing your blog with me today. Yes, I'm crazy about ♥PINK♥ but I'm also devoted to visiting some of the nicest blogs in cyberspace.
Hoping your weekend is filled with peace.
HI!hat was such a sweet Christmas memory! LOVELY!
Happy Pink Saturday..
XOXO
Hi Steph, Al looked in the boxes and there were only angels, snowflakes and snowmen, but we have a place called Caring Hands that gets vintage ornaments and things all the time, so will check and ask them if they would keep some if they ever get any. Hugs, Pat
Aren't you the cutest ever! Love the pics. Such treasured pieces for you of your daughter's creations. So enjoyed ....

Hi Stephanie, I'm glad you stopped by. Will you e-mail me with your address? I found something, a while back, I want to mail you. It's not much, but when I saw it, I thought of you. I should have mailed it long before now, but maybe you can use it for winter. My e-mail address is back on my profile page. Thanks & Merry Christmas! I stop by & read, but don't always get to leave comments if the baby is on my arm. Hope all is well with you and your family!
Adorable!
Happy Holidays!
You still look just the same!
Sandra Evertson
What a sweet memory, Stephanie. I just love the old ornaments and Christmas decorations.

This is a lovely tradition, and I so hope you find the duplicate you are searching for. I think I must be too early (time difference) for this week's post - I'll try to get back to you again later. Meantime, Happy Pink Saturday!
