SILVER SUNDAY 3-14-2010

For this Silver Sunday post, I'm sharing an arched top antique mirror that I no longer have. In a weak moment I sold it, thinking surely I would find another like it eventually.

Well, in the antique mirror business I have learned you almost NEVER find another exact one, and often when the size, beveled cuts, shape, or other distinguishing features are very unique, you may NEVER ever EVER find one again! They are called antiques for a reason, right?!?

But the above one is precisely what I need now to finish up my stairway grouping of mirrors so I will continue to search, and I've kept this picture to pine over in the meantime. I want the arched top, the original metal fleur clips, the scallop bevels, the clarity.......I just want it all!

This gravy / sauce boat is one of the few pieces of hotel silver that I own. I just love its slightly tarnished look. It has definitely been used LOTS thru the years. I usually keep my handled decorative paper punches in it but thought it might photograph better without them in it!

Any fun-lovin' TX gal needs a PINK and BLUE  Silver Cowgirl necklace, right?

I'm going to give this sweet sterling heart charm to my granddaughter.

I have never smoked and thank goodness my husband quit about 4 yrs. ago, but I cannot bring myself to part with this vintage silver lighter. Its soft curves and Deco design are so interesting.

My last silver offering today ~ Gotta love the silver rhinestones all around the neck!!

I plan on spending Sunday evening visiting our dear hostess Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal and all the other Silver Sunday participants, too. You will be amazed at all the beautiful things they share each month!!

Big Hugs,
Stephanie

That mirror is pretty special, I hope you find one like it someday... I was just talking about that same thing with a friend of mine the other day, getting rid of things thinking I don't need them or can reaplace them only to want them back! Your dress is beautiful too...Theresa

What a lovely mirror! I hope you do find another to take its place. So many times I put things in the car to give away, but some of them somehow find their way back in again. Wishing you a most wonderful day. :) Tammy

I am always astounded at your collection of mirrors! They are absolutely divine! That arched mirror is TDF. I know I've sold lots of things that I've kicked myself for. But, I guess the things is, it gives us purpose to look for something new. Everything is lovely. And, I adore the hotel silver gravy boat.
