TABLESCAPE TUESDAY 9/16/08

TABLESCAPE TUESDAY 9/16/08
~ Happy Fall Y'All ~
Tablescape Tuesday is hosted by our sweet blogger Susan of Between Naps on the Porch, so please stop by her blog here to see a list of other participants!

I'm sharing some of my favorite vintage Limoge plates as they always remind me of fall & crisp days & fluttering leaves. I mix this pattern ~ Limoges AL France Limoges Lanternier France ~ with my white Classic China and layer the white soup bowls atop some of the scallop edged plates & then place brass chargers underneath the dinner plates.

Each dinner plate has a slightly different floral design to it & they all have beautiful gilt edges with scallops.

Isn't this a beautiful matching footed Limoge compote? I have it listed here on my selling blog.

I layer silk maple leaves under the coffee cups. Glassware is Longchamps, demitasse fall cups & saucers are by Lillian Vernon. They were a gift from my parents many years ago. I have a set of 8 ~ 2 cups for each season. Granddaughter & I always love sipping broth from them. She also thinks its just not the holidays if we don't "sample" the Christmas punch from the Christmas ones!

I use tablecloths often, but I so enjoy the beauty of the gleaming wood tabletop with this particular set of dishes. And the dark wood really sets off the pumpkins, too!

I've used one of our antique mirrors as a plateau mirror to add a little sparkle & reflection to all the items in my centerpiece. My parents also gifted us with the wooden carved duck with brass beak a number of years ago. He usually sits atop my husband's hutch/desk in his office, but I bring him downstairs for special occasions ~ and you thought fall was only for turkies?!?!

Today I was in my assymetrical mood ~ not a matching pair of candlesticks on either end in sight!

To add a little bling, I've added some of my vintage Christmas ornaments ~ tiny pinecones in amber, silver, & gold.

The two satin glass votives with leaves on them are from JoAnn's ~ $3.99 each. These are coated on the inside with something akin to mercury glass & they get REALLY hot, but give off such a pretty glow. They also offer a pretty green one, don't know why I didn't buy it, too. Hmmmm, I may need to go back & grab a few more!

The beaded & tiny rhinestone acorn is from Hobby Lobby ~ $4.99 each, I believe. I have a whole bunch of them in our family room in a glass apothecary jar.

I wanted to use cranberry napkins but when I placed them on top of the table without a lighter tablecloth, they blended into the wood too much, so I added little ecru doilies to them, then tied them with narrow satin rust ribbon with small gold cornucopia charms that I sell here attached.

I elevated my coffee pot & covered the ugly round base with a paisley rust/brown/pumpkin spice/black fringed scarf. A crystal stemware goblet that is for sale here is added with moss & tiny gourds & pumpkins.

I can get away with having lots of china because my husband collects crystal decanters ~ aren't I lucky?!? I've borrowed a couple of his favorites & added beaded & silk tassels in brown & gold to them.

Please remember to visit all the others who are posting pretty tablescapes today. You can get a wealth of ideas & beautiful eye candy!! Thanks so much for visiting me!

Hugs,

You are such a "perfect hostess" and "tablescaper" that I've never seen anything that wasn't exquisite, honey chick!!! I'm betting that you got it from that "southern belle" mum of ours! ;-)

Lovely tablescape, and I love those frilly plates. But I kept thinking while looking at the photos that the display would look ten times more stunning in evening light.

Hi Stephanie~ I am little late; I know. Your table scape is stunning! Our power was just restored a few hours ago. Hurricane Ike was like nothing I've ever seen in my life. But we are all safe. I'll be checking back in with you soon.
