A Day Off
Everyone needs a day off every once in a while to re-charge, re-think, or just plain relax. Today was one of those days for me. So I grabbed my favorite partner in crime, my mother, & we did three of the things we do best....1) ate out 2)shopped 3) giggled a lot!

Since I hadn't posted here in almost a week, I made a few pics for you.
Thought I'd share with you one of my favorite smaller mirrors today. This one hangs in our dining room. It came already "shabbied up" with years of vintage age to it, but I love it that way. It is cream with gilded highlights. I love the contrast of it against the red wall. The tabletop chandelier is one that I salvaged, painted & added bobeches & prisms to. It used to be black, with black candle sleeves & a black marble base. I love the double pair of sweet cherubs.I recently found a beautiful extra large damask dinner napkin with an S monogramed on it, so of course I had to have it. Thought it might look nice as a table topper in the dining room.

In a moment of weakness, I listed this antique mirror & sold it last week. Now I'm having regrets, as it would have looked awesome hung in my bathroom to reflect my new chandelier over the tub. I'm sure I'll never find another as gorgeous as this one. What was I thinking?!?!

As mentioned earlier, my mother & I went out to lunch together today, then antiquing in a few of our downtown shops. Got these adorable little angels. Not quite sure how I will use them yet, but they needed to come home with me!

Also found this pretty ROSES vase that I just couldn't pass up. I may list it in my store.

Mother & I had such fun together today. I left lots of stuff undone around here, but I treasure the times we have together so much. And the dust, housework & blogging will be here tomorrow, too, right? Hope everyone had as fun a day as we did!
Hugs,
Stephanie

Steph, it sounds like you had a wonderful time with your Mother. They are days to cherish, aren't they. And you got some gorgeous goodies as well. Loving the vase, let me know when it's in your shop. And how could you part with that gorgeous mirror. Oh well, maybe another one will come along. Your should pop on over and see the gorgeous chandys I won on ebay.

I know what you mean about sellers regret & your mirror- but then I remember how much fun it is shop for a replacement item- you'll find something beautiful to replace it.

I love the color of your dining room walls with the white & black accents- very dramatic!

Bravo Steph! Momma should come first! Mom and me always loved to visit the bread baking store and danity maid bakeshop together! That litle lamp thingy you asked about is in my Pfaltzgraff tea rose pattern. They have many different patterns. And yep I didn't get to mail your surprise cause you know how sometimes a package just needs something else? Yep, that's why! See you, Love, Lori

Hey Stephanie, I really could use some help with the chandys, come on over - lol. I thought I'd start with a brush first and see if some of the dust will come off. Then maybe pipe cleanes, lots of meths and elbow grease. What do you think?

We sure missed you, but it sounds like you had a great day with mum! That's priceless. Give her our best and we'll see you later.

Love the red wall! Why didn't I know your dining room had red walls? And your mirrors are always to-die-for (even if you don't have them anymore).

Nope Steph, no drugs (lol). Methylated spirits. You have that? Stinks, but works like a dream. Might try the Windex first, see how that goes. Doesn't smell as bad.

Stephanie, sounds like you had a fun fun day! I LOVE your mirrors and lamps...and that napkin looks so big, they sometimes call them lapkins as the gals would need the extra to cover their big skirts. I love the mirror you sold but don't worry...another beauty will come along!!!

xoxo Heather

The mirror is so very pretty, I admit it would have been hard for me to part with that one. Since it's found a new home you now have an excuse for more shopping.

Stephanie,

Sounds like you had a wonderful day with your Mom. Your home is very pretty. Love the cherub candlestick. I think that large dinner napkin is called a "lapkin". Heather and I sold a few sets of those in the past. Very sought after in larger sets. It looks lovely on the table.

Have a wonderful day,
Kitty
